Mark E Quark - Live @ Etch & Sketch, Nov 1992

This set was recorded live at an underground weekly after-show called Etch A Sketch (San Diego's answer to LA's Sketch Pad) which started sometime in late 92 by Scott Leitzke & James Heth. The weekly was held in a vacant basement of a building in the Gaslamp area of downtown San Diego. Despite the silly name and the fact it started in the wee hours of the morning, this was a very fun, but short lived night which offered music and a "free breakfast cereal bar" which was a pretty unique idea at the time. The djs on this particular night, if my memory serves me correctly, were DJ Xstatic aka Daeman, Joey Jimenez & myself. This was the era I was constantly being billed as the "sunrise" dj and you can hear why on this mix. Lots of deep / early morning house classics here plus a few other surprises. This mix has never seen the light of day until now. I hope you get a kick out of hearing this mix which is just a few months past 19 years in age. A big thanks goes to Nathalie Schroeder for lending me her copy of this cassette tape since I had lost mine years ago in a move.

  2. Craziness, Mark. I think this might have been the best club we ever did... short-lived as it was.

  3. I believe this was after the event, Invictus at which was hosted at the same location. We wondered around Horton plaza, jelled around for couple hours and came back to my very first Etch 'n' Sketch. Wow, time flies. You had me since day one Mr. Quark! - Fumi

  5. The transition at 2:19 is a great example of how to ease into a song that makes the head-bob and says "This is the 619 Underground".Grateful I am

  6. It would be great if you could do a State of Independence(Mark e. Quark Acid Sunrise remix)same speed but with some of the acid background beats that come in at 29:28. And that Dr. King addition later on is spot on which epitomizes the genuine love "The Scene" had. Lovely
